Athletic Trainers Network

Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS) has developed one of the largest certified athletic training networks in the nation by serving over 50 locations in the upstate of South Carolina. GHS Certified Athletic Trainers with Steadman Hawkins physicians provide on-site sports medicine services to over 20,000 South Carolina student athletes at no charge to the organization.
Athletic trainers are a vital part of the sports medicine team and work closely to provide the best care for their athletes. They specialize in the prevention, evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation of injuries resulting from sport or physical activity. All GHS athletic trainers are state certified and nationally certified by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification.
One of the main goals of the GHS ahthletic training network is to help reduce injuries sustained by student-athletes through prevention, education, research, and proper evaluation of athletic injuries. GHS, ProAxis Therapy, and Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas (SHCC) are teaming together to research several areas of sports injury and trauma including concussions and throwing injuries.
